Police seek victims

Police seeking victims of abuse from Collège Notre-Dame
Montreal Gazette October 1, 2010 Montreal police are asking anyone who may have been a victim of sexual assault while attending Collège Notre-Dame à Montréal during the 1960s and 1970s to contact them to file a formal complaint.

The appeal follows the airing this week of a report on Radio-Canada’s Enquête newsmagazine that cited an internal report indicating the Congrégation des Frères de Sainte-Croix turned a blind eye to complaints of sexual abuse that occurred at the school during the two-decade period. The Radio-Canada report comes nearly a year after The Gazette published an award-winning series of articles by Sue Montgomery exposing child molestation by clergy at Collège Notre Dame and other Catholic institutions in the 1970s. Residents of Montreal are urged to contact their nearest police station, while those living outside the city are asked to contact local police. Any files opened will be transferred to the Montreal department’s sexual assault squad.
