My name is Russell Wyllie, i am 34 years of age and I am an advocate of human rights. I attended a Jesuit Catholic Christian College in Zimbabwe in the late 1980's for 2 years from age 12 to 14, and was often physically punished with devices that inflicted severe pain, such as the ferular, which was a wooden paddle wrapped in tight rubber and used to beat the palms of the hand which would leave bruises for a few days. The pain was incredible -a burning aching pain like no other pain i have experienced. The other method of physical punishment was cane, known as getting 'the cuts'. I remember one student at that college showing me scabs on his buttocks from where he had bled from being caned so violently. I could never enjoy a day at that dreadful place, I hated being there and was a very nervous person. Even to this day I can feel the pain of being beaten on the hands and from being caned so roughly.
I now run a video channel at which has many videos on human rights issues, which i have been archiving for the last 3 years. I used to run the video channel at and used to recieve lots of emails from kids in America who have been put through physical abuse at places like W.W.A.S.P.S, (Worldwide Association of Specialist Programmes and Schools). The W.W.A.S.P.S physical abuse story was carried by the BBC and can be viewed at my video channel
